The Event Of The Year Alternate Parallel Reality will be playing the Enzyme Tower event at the Melbourne Fringe Festival this year. It's rare for me to get out and perform, but I'll be sharing a stage with some incredible talent including BasticH, Cassandra's Myth, theunsoundproject, Sarcophony... so even if I suck (and I'm certainly not ruling out that possibility), there will be many hours of exceptional underground entertainment over two floors of Blue Velvet in Collingwood. 2nd October is the big day, and I'll be on early - at 6pm.
Right now I'm very busy preparing for this, writing new material to showcase there and setting up a live rig that will be entertaining, reliable and portable... as well as preparing ambient visuals.

Dress to impress At long last, the wheels have been set in motion for the brand new Alternate Parallel Reality T-Shirt. This is timed to hopefully come out with the long-awaited We Need To Talk album. That's if everything goes well. I'm not exactly prolific and 2010 has been a terrible year for new material.
Will the shirt be a holographic laser suit with shiny metallics and 64-colours in 3D, printed on front and back with limited-edition ripcord? Nope. I thought about that but decided to go minimalist instead. Black. With text. In red and white. Simple and tasteful.
Rather, I'm going for quality in the garment itself; high quality cotton drawn from a range called eco-edge. One size fits all (fat bastard size, in other words) and will be available from the Dawn Industry store.

Cassandra's Myth remix album - Ongoing Maintainance The Maintainance album from Cassandra's Myth was an absolutely brilliant release - a highlight in a year bursting with exciting releases from the DEMUS community. A delicate yet powerful blend of extremely skilled underground pop, this album moved dextrously from the sinister to the sublime and is a textbook example of why you need to get outside the mainstream to hear the most exciting sounds around.
This year, Ben decided to let his peers get their hands on the songs from Maintainance and mangle them. My own contribution is a remix of Game Over. I can hardly wait to hear what everyone else has come up with.

I believe that Ongoing Maintainance will be available from the time you read this and it will be a free download from the Cassandra's Myth site. Make sure to grab the original album and give it a listen first - it's free too, so there's no excuse!

New
Website and PodcastI know that I'm terrible at updating the site,
but truthfully it's been a shockingly bad year for making progress - one
step forward and three steps back would be an apt descriptor for how the
music writing and production has been.
This is not to say it's been an uneventful or unproductive year. There's big things afoot, including a remix for Cassandra's Myth, appearances on the new DEMUS compilation album and an upcoming showcase CD, merchandise in development, a rare live appearance slated for the end of the year and, of course, the We Need To Talk album. If anything 2010 is highly significant, if turbulent.
The task of a big update led to the rational conclusion that the site needs a bit of a redesign, so here's my latest version. Hope you like it.
One of the new features is Alternate Parallel Radio, my humble attempt at a semi-regular radio show. I've got the first installment up here, although I'm still ironing out RSS issues (ie. learning about RSS - lol) and I invite you to check it out on the radio page of this site.
I'm not especially showing off my mad DJ skillz or anything. I'm not restricting it to a genre. Nor am I promoting any particular agenda - though you will find several of my friends featured because I like the music. APRadio will probably be even more eclectic than APReality is... though I endeavour to maintain a listenable level of consistency. Basically, it's music I like that I want to share. It's what I listen to at home, or enjoy over a glass or two of Absynthe. I'm just sharing what I like and hoping that maybe you'll find something you like too.
